First post, first map

Hi, all. This is the first post on my new Doom 3 Blog. And by new I mean first.

Anyways, on with the blog.

The map I am currently creating is basically me teaching myself the basics of Doom 3 map making. The design is supposed to be an underground lab where you get seperated from your team. You then have to make your way through the lab, fighting off zombies and demons and pretty much trying to stay alive.

Below are a couple of in-game screenshots of the map. Since it is a work-in-progress, I have chosen a single texture for the walls, ceilings and floors, as aesthetics are a moot point at this stage of development.

Screenshot 01 A storage room with a flickering light and a

decapitated body to give it that 'lived in' feeling.

Screenshot 02

Three zombies having a snack while they wait for you to appear.

I have the map planned out on paper. It's more of a rough idea, actually, as I find myself adding different things in the map that weren't put down on paper, basically because they seem like a good idea at the time.

I am hoping to come back to this map, someday, and remake it after I have improved my skills a bit more. This is more of a prototype map, and, as such, the filename is 'proto.map'.

If anyone is interested in beta testing this map once it is finished, feel free to contact me using the address skulkrusha2000@hotmail.com. Remember, though, Doom 3 map building takes a long time, and it will be a few weeks before this map is anywhere near completed, even though it is not as long as some other custom maps out there.
