Just About Done...

I'm almost done with Map 4. Damn, I don't think any of my previous maps have been 'in development' this long (aside from Research Labs Sublevel 13, of course).

I just need to figure out how to do one more thing, then I can hopefully move on to Map 5.

Just two screenies for you. The main hall, with angled walls and stuff and some hallway in the level with a feeble attempt at interesting geometry (diagonal walls).

Main Hall (again)

Some hallway (awesome walls, huh?)

That's it. I've started using some DOOM 3 monsters in my maps. Not too many, only if they fit the mood or level (for example, I've used a Maggot and several Zombies).

End.

He's Baaaaack...

Update time!

I've been busy and I can prove it. Look below for the screenshots.

What exactly have I been up to? Well, in the first and second screenshots, you can see that I've updated the railings in Map 3 quite a bit. They're now more realistic. Before, my railings were big, thick things and only people with giant hands would have been able to use them. Now they're nice and skinny. Not only do they look better, it's easier for the player and monsters to navigate.

The third screenshot is the large pipe area from Map 4. Not much of a change apart from the lighting being changed from white to red.

The final screenshot shows the base commander's room, or something. One thing I like in this (box) room is the manually-built computer console. At first, it was just going to be an architectural element, but I got the idea to make a computer while looking through the game's textures.

Improved stairway railings

Improved walkway railings

New red lighting (like, WOW, you know?)

Base Commander's room (or something)

That's about it. Map 4 just needs a couple more rooms and an exit switch and that's it done!
